What

1-2MW ground-mounted solar array

In 2022, WWCE identified a potential site for a new community solar project next to the Wessex Water treatment works on the outskirts of Salisbury. The low-grade land has the potential to house a seven-acre solar array consisting of 2736 panels and create a biodiversity bank.

The proposed 2MW PV solar array could produce 1,600 MWh of low-carbon electricity a year – enough to supply the equivalent of over 590 homes. This would avoid over 300 tonnes of CO2 every year.

WWCE and the team at Communities for Renewables (CfR) submitted a detailed planning application in the summer of 2023, the outcome of which is pending.

If the community solar farm goes ahead, and once it is ready to build, WWCE will raise the capital to build the project through a community investment offer.

Local residents will have priority to invest before it goes national, so if you are interested in this opportunity please complete the online survey or send us an email and we will contact you as soon as it goes live.
